National Trust Sites

The convenience of a National Trust (NT) site is difficult to argue against or pass up. When my son was young, it was a great membership to have, so there was always a weekend option, either near or far, for us to get out into the outdoors, visit some lovely places, take in the sights and the history (optional), and have a good standard of facilities on hand to make the whole trip relatively effortless and the cream tea with blackcurrant jam will always be enough of a reason to go (for reference, blackcurrant is superior to strawberry, and it really doesn’t matter which is first, its going in whole).

This membership has served us very well for many years and has given us the excuse to go for that weekend walk when we may have otherwise stayed in, and solved the age-old question: what shall we do today? So, it is no surprise that when photography is brought into the equation, NT sites are a great place to practice those skills.

As part of the photography journey, I plan to make regular trips to NT sites and give the old photography a go. This will provide a range of opportunities, including landscape, woodland, macro, architectural, portrait, and family photographs. We have already been to some sites recently; the images are in Lightroom waiting to be sorted, edited, and uploaded, but so far, the opportunities have been great for the images. Not so sure about the outcome, but the opportunities are there.

Hopefully, these places will help advance and hone my skills over a range of styles, whilst providing the comfort of a nice walk around the gardens and grounds, spending time with my family, and of course, that cream tea.
